Mott Community College Reopening Training: HAND HYGIENE

For the safety of our College and campus community it is crucial that all faculty, staff, students, onsite partners, and visitors follow all MCC Reopening Standards

How to Properly Cough and Sneeze

Wiping Down Shared Equipment (coffee pots, copy machines, etc.)

To prevent the spread of viruses on shared equipment, employees and students must use 70 % alcohol-based wipes or hydrogen peroxide 5% solution before and after every use (much like wiping down fitness equipment in Durham). Disposable wipes will be provided by the College in areas containing shared equipment. Shared equipment includes, but is not limited to, copy machines, coffee pots, refrigerators, communal printers, shared computers and lab equipment or tools in academic divisions.

Cleaning and disinfecting

Custodial staff will be cleaning and disinfecting high touch areas that are not classrooms, multiple times per day in all buildings – (e.g. door handles, handrails, elevator buttons, ATM machines, and vending machines). Classrooms will be cleaned and disinfected daily.   Disinfecting products will be placed in each classroom for use between daily cleanings.  Each time a classroom is cleaned notification will be posted as such. Individuals may not use a classroom without approval from an Executive Cabinet member unless they have been previously assigned to that classroom space.  Multiple times daily all restrooms and common areas will be cleaned and disinfected.

Trash Cans

Trash Cans will be placed in multiple locations around the campus for persons to dispose of PPE including disposable face coverings, gloves, hand sanitizer containers, and disposable wipes. We urge everyone to keep MCC immaculate as we increase the amount of trash that is expected with the new normal of working and learning. Facilities staff will be disposing of waste more frequently.

As an affirmative action/equal opportunity institution, the College encourages diversity and provides equal opportunity in education, employment, all of its programs, and the use of its facilities. The College does not discriminate in educational or employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, gender, gender expression, gender identity, national origin, veteran’s status, age, disability unrelated to an individual’s ability to perform adequately, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
