Library of Congress Classification is a system used by most academic libraries to categorize books and library materials by topic. Public libraries usually use the Dewey Decimal system. The Mott Library uses the Library of Congress Classification System. The Library follows LOC rules to put the "call number" on the spine of the book. The call number tells where to shelve the book
MeLCat is a statewide network of over 400 Michigan libraries. You can search for books, CDs, DVDs and other materials and have the items sent to the Mott Library for you to check out. Request items with the 14 digit number above the barcode on your Mott ID card.
